“A warrior discovered it on the route home. It’s carved with runes. We suspect it’s related to the other artifact you examined.”
Eamon gestured for them to place it on the desk. He adjusted his spectacles, leaning over the shard with intense focus. Alara hovered nearby, arms crossed as if to ward off the cold feeling creeping up her spine. After a moment, the old mentor tapped one of the runes with a thin stylus.
“These markings,” Eamon said, voice low. “They’re used in advanced sorcery to locate or anchor a specific magical signature. Given Alara’s unusual powers, I suspect they keyed it to her aura. If you found it so near your route, it’s very likely no coincidence.”
