I took in a deep breath of her burnt peach orchard smell and smiled brightly at seeing her again.

Lucan reached into his coat again, and this time he brought out a small, crystal bottle. My eyes widened as I remembered the incredible Aetherpills. I still had one, tucked away in my suite. “Take these Aetherpills,” he’d said as he placed the small bottle in my hand. “They’ll restore your strength when your energy runs dry. They feed both the body and the mind even when there’s nothing left to draw from.” I grinned happily. “Thank you.” “My pleasure,” he replied in his usual composed tone, but when I looked up into his dark eyes, they still held worry. “Go join the others. The Dark Hall is opening.”

Amber The air in the room was thick, heavy with the cloying, sweet scent of my rising heat and the dark, musky undertone of Rayne’s Alpha pheromones. My heart was a frantic drum against my ribs as Rayne led me toward the bed, his grip on me firm yet possessing a reverent gentleness. Joy. My hands moved before my brain caught up. I reached for chamomile extract, golden and sweet-smelling. Then apricot kernel essence... fruity and soft. Amber resin, warm and deep, scraped from ancient trees. And finally, a pinch of powdered sandalwood, like sun on old wood. Ten minutes. I lit the flame beneath my flask with a whispered word. The stabilizing ether sizzled when it hit the mix. My hands shook, just a little, as I swirled it all together. I held my breath. Please. Please work.

Moonshimmer lillies, Shadowfern fronds, Nightfall petals, Starleaf vein and Ghostcap spores will be the herbs in your nighttime baths" She dusted the amberroot chips from her hands and leaned back, watching as they all slowly melted into the water, which obviously wasn't just water, given that they were melting.
