Amelia Porter Criminal Minds Novels & Stories

“Thank you. And … thank you for everything. For asking me to do this, for trusting me. Even though I love him… I can’t stay with Daniel. I have to leave him.” Amelia’s face softened. “I like the sound of that.” She stood and smoothed her skirt. “I know it hurts. But sometimes life doesn’t go the way we want. Right now we have to be smart.” She picked up the small case and turned it in her hands. “I’m taking this to my team. They’ll play it and verify what’s on it. I’m hopeful maybe it’s the proof about Christina’s murder. But we can’t assume. Keep your fingers crossed, okay?”

I leaned back in my chair, fixing my gaze on Kevin, then on Officer Damian, my lips curving, “But that wasn’t the most interesting part.” Both men stilled, their focus locked on me. “Recently, Amelia has been talking to someone.” I continued slowly, choosing my words with care, “At first, I thought it was just one of her usual schemes, but I dug deeper. The man she’s been contacting isn’t just anybody. He’s involved in more things than I can count, murder, kidnappings, extortion, the kind of things most people wouldn’t dare whisper about. His name is whispered in the underground like a ghost. He makes people disappear.”

But she was the first suspect, and even though he wanted to solve it himself, in the end he chose to turn both Amelia and the evidence over to the police. He just watched as the police took Amelia away, just as they had taken Raymond Cole away then. Amelia did not open her mouth to beg for mercy until she got into the car, and her eyes, which were still tinged with terror, also turned to anger after Alex called the police. Amelia didn't say another word, just looked at Alex quietly, as if to say, "You finally did it, just like you framed Raymond Cole, and framed me in prison too." Alex was silent with a very ugly face. Jenny tried to reach up and pull Alex, but was waved away by Alex.

Amelia was only briefly at the police station after being arrested earlier. Amelia's heart pounded in her chest as she was led out of the police station, her hands cuffed behind her back. She had known that her actions would catch up to her eventually, but she had never imagined it would end like this. Amelia had already committed many crimes, and her most recent crime was a capital offense. The policemen who escorted her were silent, their faces expressionless. Amelia tried to plead with them, to explain that she had made a mistake, but they ignored her. Instead, they pushed her into the back of a waiting car and blindfolded her.

“Mrs. Amelia, I heard about the case between you and your father and uncle. Do you think they could have something to do with this?” “But they are in prison.” “They were imprisoned weeks ago. Did they know about this party?” He asked, and Amelia bobbed. “The party was announced before they were imprisoned.” “Okay, Ma’am. With the look of things, this suspect in the footage may not be someone you know. He or she may be sent by someone who knows you and this house very well. If you have anyone in mind, no matter where or who they are, please let us know.” Amelia nodded and lowered her head in sadness again. ‘What did I ever do to deserve this? When I thought everything was going the way I have
