She boisterously laughed and teased and carried on with Tara as if the two were longtime friends and she had only visited the day before. Maggie showed little surprise when she saw the kittens. It was as if she knew of their existence all along. She held each one in her hands and did what she called ‘scanning of their bodies’. Maggie could actually picture in her mind the inside of a person or an animal. Although she was never educated in the medical field, she was able to pick up on abnormalities in a body and instinctively know whether the affliction required a doctor’s care or a simple home remedy.

The flute brought back unpleasant memories once again, but I pushed it to the back of my mind as I greeted her. Maggie wore a blue halter dress that reached her knees and flared at the waist. It had tiny crystals all over that glittered in the light. Stunning, but not overly done. I would've thought that the color wouldn't have matched her flaming hair, but in fact it did and she looked just gorgeous. "Hey." I smiled at her as she reached me. "Thanks for coming." "Wouldn't have missed it for the world." Maggie grinned at me. "I've always heard the MacGyver's gave a stunning party. Oh, I heard you'll be breaking your seal today!"

I said, my voice etched with disbelief. Her breathing was ragged, heavy. Her gaze went to her belly, her hands caressing it. It was hard to believe, but the child wasn't just an ordinary hybrid. I heard footsteps behind us and I turned, my face turning into a frown when my gaze landed on him. Felix. A smug smile on his face as he approached, Maggie took her hand to her belly again, protectively. “You are both here” He smirked, “I thought they'd come for you and your baby” His gaze was locked on Maggie as he gave a taunting smile.

She probably saw my confusion and shrugged. “I'm Maggie, an actress on Broadway. They snatched me when I was having a smoke out by the theatre. Was still in costume, so just went with being the old hag. And I'm glad I did, considering rape and torture of the younger ladies seems to be the only thing those bastards can think of.” Maggie shook her head sadly. “Have you seen my friend? And why can't we shift? Any idea where we are?” There were just so many questions in my mind.
