What I see forces me to halt instantly. Instead of a lady, I see a massive pitch black wolflike animal with bright blue eyes. It looks just like a wolf but just way too big to be one. Then the blue eyes make it even more stupefying. It looks so ferocious that my legs become jelly just by looking at it. Never once have I seen such a massive beast. I have had the privilege to see the werewolves shift, but none of them are this big. Not so they have such an unusual eye color. It corks its head to the side and then I hear that voice in my head.

Then Kenny changed. Not completely. Not the dramatic Hollywood version I would have imagined if anyone had asked me to imagine it, which no one ever had because this wasn't something people imagined. It was subtler and more terrifying than that. His eyes changed first — deepening to something amber and luminous that had nothing to do with the warm brown I knew. His frame expanded slightly, shoulders broadening, presence intensifying until he filled the room in a way that had nothing to do with physical size. The air around him hummed.
