I woke up from the sound of my stomach growling, without a word; I stood up from lying on my bed; my face was a little hurt from the incident earlier when I saw my reflection, a big purple bruise. I sighed and held my cheek, and started to heal myself. My mom and dad were fascinated with my gift for healing, but it wasn't extravagant; like the doctors from our tribe, I could heal simple wounds or, like mine—Bruises.

“Even though you told me to come alone and dare tell me off for having one other person with me, you stand waiting with company of your own?” “I thought you want the kids back.” I wanted to shout at that smart remark, when Beowulf glanced at me and shook his head, silently telling me to be calm. One look at him, and I could see that he was trying to hold back his own rage at this human. “You know exactly what I mean,” he growled. “Well, I can’t be sure exactly who I am facing here. Besides, I know you got some friends looking into me. If you’ve discovered enough about me, you should know that my ‘friends’ are more of… Messengers, I suppose.”

Beowulf scoffed"hmm,I don't know what you are talking about, what's the reason behind your stupid act of interrupting my peace" "You are a coward to be an alpha,I have really heard a lot about you,am disappointed to see such a pup"Luke replied sizing him up. Alpha Beowulf was provoked with what he said, one thing werewolves especially Alphas hated was someone looking down on them, they were creatures who had pride.

I glanced nervously at the discarded sugar packets on the table. "Enough to plunge you into darkness, but not quite send you to the grave. At least, not yet." His thumb grazed his lower lip in a slow, deliberate motion, his intense gaze unwavering from mine. "Enough to make you docile, so I could take you out of here without any protest."

The commander spoke as they headed out the door. Christopher grinned. "I'm not Beast anymore." Bruce cocked his head in surprise. "You do know that we called you Beast because of how you are out on the field, right? The way you went through Crucible and everything else you tackle is what makes you a beast." Christopher shrugged. "I guess I didn't know that. But it didn't bother me. I don't mind being called Beast by you guys…" He left the rest unsaid and headed out of the room.

Helgar had her eyes averted, but Beowulf stared straight at her. The corners of his lips lifted in a cruel smile as he spoke, "It's a good thing they passed peacefully. Weak creatures like them always bring trouble to the pack." Scarlett lunged suddenly, overcome by a surge of violent rage. She attacked Beowulf and managed to scratch her nails across his face before Caleb caught her and pulled her away. Beowulf slowly ran a hand across his cheek, wiping off the blood before the scratch healed. His expression changed suddenly, his eyes peeling to pure black.

Selene’s POV "Honey, how long till we get there?" I can't remember how many times I opened the carriage window to inquire. Beowulf, who was riding a black stallion, took the trouble to lean down and answer me: "An hour at most. Look! We can already see the outline of the wall." He pointed his whip forward. I stuck my head out and looked in the direction he pointed. Well, I didn't see anything. Compared to Beowulf, who is a werebear, I am physically inferior in every way.

he said, his voice steady despite the flicker of doubt in his eyes. The beast emerged fully from the pit—a towering, grotesque mix of sinew and muscle that pulsed unnaturally under its thick hide. It let out a deep, resonant roar that forced the wolves to flatten their ears and brace themselves. Annabel raised her voice, addressing the pack. “Keep your focus. Stay in pairs. Take down its legs first.” “And its head?” one wolf called. “That’s mine,” Annabel said coldly.

Cole grunted his face was red with anguish. Beowulf’s face slowly colored in a murderous rage, and he leaned forward, using one paw to tighten his hold around Cole’s neck. He raised the other paw so he could slash his throat with his sharp claws. Obviously intent on taking Cole with him to the underworld. But then Cole pulled out the knife from his side and jab it into his neck and up to his throat. Blood splashed all over Cole’s chest, face, and into his eyes, blinding him. He lashed out then in fervent desperation, stabbing and barreling blows blindly until Beowulf grew unbearably heavy and he could push his evidently lifeless body off of him.
