Anthony Horowitz Horror Books Novels & Stories

I slipped behind a broken section of wall, pressing myself flat against the stone. The footsteps passed. Two guards. Running. Running. That never happens. Guards don’t run. Not here. Not unless something is very wrong. I waited. Counted slowly in my head. Then I stepped out again. But this time… I didn’t go deeper. I turned back. Because something told me— Whatever was happening tonight… I wasn’t ready for it. Thorne POV The first wolf came from the left. Fast. Silent. Wrong move. I twisted just as it lunged, my claws tearing through its throat mid-air. Blood sprayed across my chest as its body crashed beside me.

Cole asked, getting on his feet also. “Hey Man! Don’t tell me, you don’t understand this?” Anthony asked, flipping the page of the book to where the full details were written. “I don’t. Can you tell me?” Cole asked, giving him a go ahead. “C’mon Cole, you ain’t this dumb right? Think dude” Anthony motioned, as he motioned the book towards Rex… He read the inscription on the book aloud, still not getting the hint. “THE DANGER OF A LYCAN FATE TO A LUNA – MOON GODDESS MYSTERIES”

“I could’ve made you some desserts.” It took aback Owen at his hospitality. He expected him to yell at him for arriving out of the blue. He said, relaxing himself on the small couch they had, crossing his legs, “I brought you a book,” he handed the book he brought, limited edition copy of a horror author which Ryan never heard of it, but this genre itself was what he loved. Ryan took the book and rummaged to see inside. The book, although seemed new, they published it way back around five years ago. At that time, he wasn’t so fond of novels like now.

“Were these any help, detective?” “I’m afraid not,” I said, defeated. I was in a bit of a daze after staring at projected newsprint on the dim screen. I leaned on the desk and looked around the building absentmindedly until my eyes finally settled on a small sign hanging on a table covered with a neat stack of books. “Warning: The Library is Not Responsible for Nightmares!” I read out loud, walking over to look at the books. Well-worn volumes with pink skulls grinning back at me from stickers on their spines. Dracula. Frankenstein. The Invisible Man.

“She’s such a sweet lass.” “She has more of Vogel’s venom in her than mine. It could get ugly,” Geo replied. I didn’t know what he meant by that, nor did I like the feeling of aggression that was overtaking me. I could smell the blood pumping through the old witch’s veins and I could feel the overwhelming need to taste it surging forth. I thought I heard a bit of panic in Luthias’s voice when he announced, “It isn’t looking good. Get out now.”

I swear I will never, ever let Anna enter into a relationship with the man whose parents murdered hers. Anthony violently closed the book immediately, the heavy thud muffled only by the dim room. His heart started beating at a terrifyingly fast pace, his eyes widening in pure horror. What the hell did I just read? A low, sleepy groan from the bed shattered the silence. Panic seized him, causing him to hurriedly shove the book back into the bag. Anna shifted under the blankets, blinking open her heavy eyes. "Anthony...?" she murmured, her voice thick with exhaustion. "Why are you standing all the way over there?"

The light in the cracks pulsed, a slow heartbeat. Then, from deep within the ruins, a sound echoed. A whisper. No. Not a whisper. A breath. Something was here. Elior drew his sword. "Stay close." Bram tightened his grip on his axe, his usual easygoing demeanor gone. "Great. More nightmares." They moved deeper into the city, stepping carefully around collapsed structures and broken archways. The further they went, the worse the sensation became, a pressure in the air, like being watched by something vast and unseen.

The following day, lessons with Mr Frank went on, and the more I learned with him, I also had to read a few books about being a good witch. "Agatha, what are you doing?"... Dad called my name from downstairs. Tonight's the birthday celebration of Zandor and also the start of his rebellion. Mr Frank and a few others in the system have a good plan of murdering him, and in case that doesn't work. I will have to step in and murder him myself.

Those books were older than any of the others in his office.
