Dominic POV The fire alarm went off at 2:17 a.m. Not the estate’s system—this one came through a private channel, the kind reserved for properties that were never meant to be acknowledged on paper. A safe house. Victoria’s last registered location. “Confirmed?” I asked, already standing. “Confirmed,” Matteo replied. “Total loss. Accelerant used. No bodies.” No bodies. I didn’t sit back down. I walked to the window instead, watching the city lights cut clean lines through the dark, because there were only two possibilities and neither of them fit the outcome I had authorized.

Syndell, Austerra. Sasha cracked open the window. Sunlight poured in, warm and sharp. Her mood shot up. No job interviews yet, nothing urgent—perfect excuse for a walk. As she strolled past the bushes outside her building, a faint meow stopped her. She glanced around. Nothing. Took a step. There it was again. She crouched, shoved branches aside, and peered into an old pipe. Curled up inside was a scrawny orange kitten, all ribs and scratches.

After five years, he could only get such a result. Burning with anger, he rushed to look for Nolan. Nolan was holding Ekta's hand, ready to go through the discharge formalities, when the unknown danger arrived. Upon seeing Nolan holding his new lover, Vivaan lost his mind and shouted, "Nolan Bernard!" Nolan turned around and was greeted with a punch right on the face. Nolan tasted the blood in his mouth. He raised his head and glared at Vivaan. "You're crazy!"

The headstone had a picture of us as kids. I knelt, brushing my fingers over it, smiling softly at my sister's scowl. She never liked taking pictures. "Sienna, it's time." I looked up and saw a girl in the air, her face a mirror of mine. Slowly, I started to rise. She reached out, her smile radiant. "Sienna, I finally found you."

“Please, Daddy, don’t tell Mum I told you anything.” The loud roar of a car horn suddenly erupted in the air, and my gaze shifted in that direction as the gate swung open. Joanna slipped from my arms and raced inside the house as soon as she caught sight of the car entering the compound. I marveled at her reaction but refocused on the car as it pulled into the parking lot. Soon, Fiona stepped out, carrying her little bag. The moment she caught sight of me, still seated in the front with Peter and the maid, her face lit up with a small smile as she approached.

Other than clothes and daily essentials, I left everything behind. Then I saw the ceramic mugs the three of us had painted together at a craft shop back when Pierce used to take Ellie and me out. A sharp pain twisted through my chest. The Pierce who once gave Ellie and me all his love, patience, and time was gone. After making sure I hadn't forgotten anything important, I carried the sleeping Ellie out of that unfamiliar apartment without looking back. A week passed in our new place. Pierce never sent a single message. Daphne, though, kept blowing up my phone.

Silas walked in behind him. The moment he saw the woman’s face, he stopped. “So…” Silas exhaled slowly. “She’s finally stepped out of the shadows.” Noah looked between them. “Who is she?” Nicholas placed the photograph back on the desk. “Her name is Evelyn Ashcroft.” Daniel frowned. “I’ve never heard of her.” “You weren’t supposed to.” Nicholas pulled out a chair and sat. “She was never part of Black Ridge.” “She financed it.” Noah’s expression hardened.
