I clenched my jaw. My chest felt tight, like something heavy was pressing on it.
So he does admire her. He admits it.
Lucas kept talking, not noticing how tense I had become.
“And even if what I feel is love,” he continued, “I know it’s not romantic. I’m sure of that. At least… I think I am. But if it ever was romantic, if one day it became that, I would never act on it. Never.”
He looked me straight in the eyes when he said that. His gaze didn’t waver.
