Right this minute, I shove that rational part of me away. I start my car’s engine and follow.

This could be a way out, or at the very least, a way to get more information. With a deep breath, I clutch my keys to my chest and swing my bag over my shoulder before heading out to my car. I don’t even turn on the radio as I drive. My thoughts and nerves are loud enough as it is. Any more noise would only make my never-ending headache worse.

And I need a mantra to get into a car? "Drive." I ordered gutturally. The warrior wisely turned the ignition and pulled out of parking without a word. As the car began moving, I had to once again remind myself that I was safe in the car. It had been goddamn centuries, and I was better damn it. I hadn’t suffered a flashback in years. I could get in a car…any mode of transportation just fine, as long as I was not behind the wheel. I would never be getting behind the wheel of anything ever again.

Poor Elias, to be stuck with a mate like me. 'Keep it together, keep it together'. I think to myself as I feel tears starting to well up in my eyes, 'just hold it in till the car', I tell myself, the doors to the outside in site, giving myself permission to ball it in the safe confines of my little car.

Making my mood for the rest of the day completely ruined. I got into my car, with no one in particular on my mind to go, and then I started the engine of my car. I needed time and space away from everyone and everything that reminded me of what just happened today. I drove out of the garage headed for the road and then I had the speed of my car increase headed nowhere. A red fire truck, which seemed to me like it was in a hurry rushed in the same direction at me, as I had the steering wheel of my car turned to the opposite direction, trying not to bump into the truck.

I mutter, looking in Mom's direction. "He's using you." Aurora speaks, using her typical tone of indifference. I pass my brother-in-law ignoring his calls, the headache seems to ease with each step I take towards the exit. I'm acting on automatic when I grab my car keys from the table, I need to get out of this house to think and not do anything crazy. I take a deep breath as I close the door behind me. I don't drive like a pro yet, but I can get by. I start the car and drive off aimlessly.

Going home and staying here, neither is good for my mental health. The honk of a car breaks into my thoughts, and I glance at the car before stepping away. It took me a second to realise I'd been walking all along. I'm already on the highway and I've totally forgotten about hailing a cab. I hear the car's honk again, but I don't even have the strength to look at whoever it is. I just walk away, but it wouldn't stop following me. I glare at the car before the driver finally rolls down his window.

George got into the driver's seat, put the car in drive, and pulled out of the mall's parking lot, heading toward home. I could only hope our plan works this time and doesn’t fail.

I dash down the stairs, out the door and into my car before I can change my mind and decide not to go. I take a deep, long, relaxing breath and rid my head of any thoughts of bailing out. It's time to face the father of my worst nightmare.
