Everyone went on with their businesses without apparent care in the world. What particularly put me off, was the ineptitude of the receptionist. She scolded the visitors and other fellow applicants and spoke harshly to them, for no just cause. I could recall categorically how she spoke to an elderly man who wanted to be directed to where to make reservations for a room. "Hello ma'am! Please, where could I book a room?" The elderly man asked, politely.

"I'm here with your manager. He just went out to take a call. Why don't you give him a call to confirm?" The receptionist made a face and declared, "No entry without prior appointment." She continued rudely, "If everyone behaved like you, this place would be a mess. Could you please not make things difficult for me, Miss? I'm just here to do my job." It was peak rush hour, and many people were making their way into the office. Many of them stared in Zoey's direction when they heard the receptionist's raised voice. Zoey felt like she was being put on the spot. Trying her best to keep her temper in check, she apologized. "I'm sorry. I'd like to make an appointment now."

We walked into the reception area to see the receptionist at her desk, an office phone placed on her ear. As soon as we walked in, her eyes drifted to us and she took the phone from her ear, offered us a smile and smile and motioned for us to take a seat in the available seats. A short whle later, she was done with the call. When I don't reply on time, the receptionist looks back up at me, her smile still glued to her face. "Ma'am? Do you have an appointment? And your name please".

Most look far more qualified than me. One woman beside me is dressed impeccably and speaks four languages apparently because she somehow manages to mention it every five minutes. Meanwhile I’m sitting there with one broken heel trying not to spiral. Thirty minutes later, the interviewers return. Everyone immediately pays attention. The woman from earlier smiles politely. “Thank you all for coming today. Before we announce the selected applicants, I’d like to say something.” “Being a receptionist is more than appearance.” She continues. “It requires patience, composure and emotional intelligence.”

Some didn't bother reply, but some still greeted me back or at least smiled at me. I took the lift up to the last floor. On the way up, I kept tapping my foot. Sooner or later the lift reached the top floor and the doors open. When I entered the floor, the first person I saw was Ava. She is the receptionist. "Good morning Ava." I greeted her. "Good morning Bella." she greeted me back. "Mr King is not in yet. However there is some documents you have that you need to fax." She said with a smile. "Thanks." I said as I start walking to my office. Yes! I actually have a room.

I stared at the five story building in front of me, this was going to be my new life coming here weekday to make a living and when I had enough saved I would move out so I don’t have to deal with my dad attempts to marry me off. I entered the building and went towards the manager’s office. She smiled and gestured for her to walk closer. She did. "Good morning, ma'am. I'm looking to the manager of this building, I have an appointment with him." The woman was still smiling kindly, "I take it, you're the Home Emergency Nurse that was gonna come today?" "Yes, ma'am. That's me." "You're welcome, beautiful." the friendly receptionist shook hands with her, "As for the manager..." she glanced at the computer screen in front of her, then suddenly a man walked into the reception. ".....I think you just found him." she pointed at the man.

“The receptionist’s over there.” I’m tempted to take a video, but her glare stops me mid-thought. The receptionist is stunning. Like, model stunning. “Good morning. You're here for Mr. Ford?” She takes one look at the appointment details on her Apple desktop. "Yes, please." Mrs. Lawrence responds. "Thirty-second floor. Mr. Ford’s secretary will meet you there.” She looks up to us. “Thank you.” “My pleasure.” The elevator doors close behind us. My pulse matches the rising floor count.

I wasn't sure but I heard it one time before answering. “Come in”. The knob turned and it opened unto me. I looked up standing erect to see who was coming in. “Hello Ma'am. Welcome to De Luxe apartments here in Blackmoon pack. We are at your service. There's a telephone beside the bed. You can always call to let us know if you need anything”. She said to me, I nodded. “I will do just that. Thank you”. I answered her and just as she was about to leave I called her back.
