I remembered the first day of the apocalypse when cities turned into hell on earth as the streets filled with screams and blood. I remembered the countless deaths I'd seen over the last three years. I remembered the people who were killed by their loved ones because of infection, and those who turned into zombies in the depths of despair. "I'll do it," I said. "What?" Natasha stepped closer. Professor Hargrove pointed at the dates. "These experiments started eight months after civilization collapsed." Silence followed. I knew better than to mention the words ‘zombies or apocalypse. If I told these hardened mobsters that the dead were going to rise and eat their faces in less than two weeks, they'd laugh me out of the room or tell me I belong in an asylum.
