Every living creature knew that the world was not the same. Then came the light. From Zenith, warmth erupted, radiant and golden, not blinding but eternal. It seeped into wood, stone, and flesh, whispering the forgotten hymn of healers. Her aura, long dormant, bloomed at last, a bloodline thought to be ashes, now aflame in her trembling body. Where her light touched, sickness wilted, wounds knitted, and shadows bent.

It reinvigorated me with purpose. The light paused again. Toris was walking alongside his father. They both had the typical Dark Fae look. Grey skin, black eyes, and sharp features. All Fae held light inside of them. It was their soul and lifeforce. It was the essence of our magic. We used to be just one – Fae. However, some of our people began to corrupt themselves as they attempted to gain power in any way that they could. They tainted their light which then tainted their soul. It created physical changes to take place so that all could see their corruption.

I choked out, my fingers searching for the obsidian pendant. From the wreckage of the glass behind us, a low, subsonic growl began to build. It wasn’t the sound of a wounded man. It was the sound of the earth breaking open. A white light began to glow from beneath the shards, growing brighter and hotter until the very air began to sing with the frequency of the stars. The Apex was rising, and this time, he wasn’t bringing mercy. He was bringing the end of the Monet line.

Light. It spilled from his mouth and chest like living flame without burning him, bright and deep, carrying a force that made my skin prickle and Seraphina’s tether pulse from inside me. The golden light gathered in front of him, twisting upward, widening, shaping itself with slow authority. Wings unfolded first, vast and luminous. Then a long neck rose, crowned with sweeping horns. A body formed in phantom outline, bigger than Seraphina’s, older, heavier with power. His scales glowed gold, but the edges shimmered with a silver-white phantom aura that made him look both solid and spirit at once.

“I don’t know if I deserve Light.” Alessia’s whisper slipped out before she could stop it. She stood before the Lux altar, heart pounding so hard it shook her bones. The pillar of light ahead of her shimmered like frozen sunlight—tall, white-gold, and etched with delicate symbols that glowed with a soft, holy radiance. The Lux priests stood closest to this altar—men and women in white and gold robes, intricate lines of luminous paint drawn across their brows and cheeks. Their eyes, sharp and watchful, were turned entirely toward her.

“Get to the point.” “Okay. Okay.” Jayden chuckled as he put his hands up defensively for a moment before dropping them on his lap. “My point is, I think you have every reason to believe that we might be dealing with the Lunar Eclipse pack.” “Why do you think that?” I asked. “Well, even if we haven’t directly dealt with them, they are somehow involved. We don’t know much about them, but with what we do know, it is clear they are deep into science stuff. We know of at least a few members who have been experimented on, with enhanced abilities that aren’t natural. This physician guy may or may not be involved with them, but we can’t rule out the idea.”

The girls had chosen this spot for its energy—a natural convergence point where the earth’s magic pooled like water. Freda lit the black candles with a whispered word, their flames burning unnaturally blue. Pru scattered a circle of salt mixed with crushed obsidian, the grains glittering like crushed stars. Rita laid out the parchment—yellowed with age, borrowed from Gogo’s private stash—and the silver dagger, its blade etched with runes. "Ready?" Freda asked. Rita nodded. Pru grinned.

"Use the pendant!" Amelia's hand instinctively reached for the silver pendant resting against her chest. It was a relic passed down through generations, said to hold the power of the purest light. She clasped it in her palm, feeling a surge of energy course through her. With a cry, Amelia raised the pendant high above her head, its radiant glow illuminating the darkness enveloping the chamber. A pillar of light erupted from the pendant, piercing through the Shadow Lord's beastly form. In that blinding column of light, time seemed to slow. The Shadow Lord let out a roar of agony, his monstrous facade crumbling away, revealing a wounded and vulnerable figure.

He asked sarcastically, "But what does that have to do with me? Also, you said something about Wearson Valley and Light Armor. What do these things have to do with me?" The Black Bishop seemed shocked and responded, "You knew about Light Valley, and you have the Light Gloves. The Light Armor has finally appeared. Shouldn't you be happy about that? The Light Armor is from the middle dimension, after all. It's an armor created by the power of the universe's law from the middle dimension. It's almost impervious to all damage from the lower dimension. If you have the Light Armor, that's akin to gaining invincibility. No one can defeat you."

It suddenly dawned on me that the limousine had already left. As I turned to my side, I found Noah standing beside me, while the two bodyguards were positioned behind me. Taking a deep breath, I mustered up the courage to walk towards the building and before I knew it, we were standing in front of the elevator doors. We ascended to the top floor, which I had a hunch was Justin's luxurious office penthouse. The moment the doors parted, a wave of scents, like whiskey and champagne, enveloped me. The soft, rhythmic music filled the air and the dazzling lights seemed even more radiant on the inside.
