The Shadow Beside The Moon
Above them, the moon was visible even in the early afternoon sky, shining bright, and beside it, for the first time in four hundred years, the faint, gentle curve of its shadow could be seen, clear and whole.
Elara felt the locket warm against her chest. She had come looking for her mother, and while she still didn’t know exactly where she was, she felt something new hope. The world was broken, but it could be fixed. It was hard, and it would take time, but it was possible.
Kaelen walked beside her, looking out over the valleys stretching below. “It’s a long road ahead,” he said quietly. “People don’t change what they believe overnight.”
