Chapter 90 — The Book of Blood ~ARIA~ TRIAD SAFEHOUSE, GUANGDONG COAST — 3:17 A.M. The room was too quiet for comfort. The kind of silence only killers and grieving mothers understood. Aria sat at the edge of a rust-bitten desk, her son wrapped in linen and dreams in the cot behind her. In her lap, a leather-bound book. Empty. Until now. She opened it. Tore a page from her own past. And wrote:

Garrett The clearing is exactly as I remembered from my scouting trip yesterday. Secluded, peaceful, with a small stream running along one edge. I've set up blankets, cushions, and most importantly—a stack of books. Iris stops when she sees it, hand flying to her mouth. "You did all this?" Her voice is soft with wonder. "I wanted it to be special." I guide her to the blankets. "And I found something I thought you'd like." I hand her the top book. It's old, leather-bound, with gilt lettering. "Advanced Theories in Shield Construction and Consciousness-Based Magical Architecture."

Aria’s POV We woke up in the Crimson park that morning, and rain fell, not real blood, of course—but the sky turned a deep red, and the light it cast made everything look stained. It felt like an omen. One of many I’d been ignoring. I was alone in the Moon Library, seated in front of a book I hadn’t dared open until now: The Royal Lineage of the Lunar Thrones. The cover was soft with age. The spine cracked like it hadn’t been touched in generations. A single silver moon was carved into the center.

The following night I returned to the Arcane Archives wearing a simple button-front dress that fell just below my knees — easier to remove, just as Elias had instructed. My body still hummed from the previous evening’s surrender, the faint marks from the silk bookmarks hidden beneath my sleeves like secret ink. Elias waited for me at the large oak reading table, the floating candle orbs casting a warm golden glow over the black shelves. He held a thick, leather-bound volume with ornate silver clasps. The title, embossed in deep crimson, read *The Bondage Codex: A Victorian Manual of Restraint and Ecstasy*.

ARIA. “This is the tome that I promised,” Cleo told me, setting a vintage-looking book on the table. I pulled it over to me and gently brushed my hand over the leather cover and binding. It was in excellent condition. “What all does it talk about?” I asked her curiously. “I’m not certain. Probably some college kid hunting for ancient conspiracies to turn into a thesis. Her fingers skimmed the titles. Worn, faded, some crumbling at the spine. One caught her eye.
