When Alaric came back to the drawing-room, Adrienne had finished eating and had also risen from her seat. “You said you’ll wait for me,” said Alaric as he walked in fast strides towards her. “Do you have ears of a bat, Alaric?” asked Adrienne surprised by what he had just said.
