My fingers lit with flame. “Who are you?” I demanded. He didn’t answer right away. He walked through the paused battlefield like he owned it. Like time was his pet and war his playground. While I took the seat Valkar gestured to. Valkar didn’t waste time. “Why have you come, Princess?” Victor scoffed behind me. “Princess? Again with the weird titles…” “Anthony,” I said quickly, cutting off whatever nonsense Victor was about to start. “He was drugged with Amare. He’s… it’s bad. Really bad. I need your help in finding a cure for him.” Valkar nodded like he had already known. He walked to a tall shelf, scanned a few jars, then picked out a small bottle filled with something clear.

I flinched when he crouched on the floor in front of me. “I’m Victor,” he said. I didn’t care. I wanted to get out of here. “It’s rude not to introduce yourself,” he said. “I’m sure you know who I am.” He smirked at me, and it made him look dangerous. Victor had a Scandinavian looking face with high cheekbones and a wide chin. His cheeks were hollow, and his hair was a dirty blond. His eyes were so dark, they looked black. They moved aside to give me access. A dagger was buried into the ground, pinning a piece of parchment beneath it. The parchment was stained with blood. I ripped it free and unfolded it.
