I take a sip of the coffee and kept it on the table. I once said I love reading novels but I will go ahead and say it again. Novels are great but only when it’s not dark romances. I can read any type of novel but not dark romance. Don’t get me wrong but I find dark romance annoying and very boring and sometimes disturbing too. I said, and my breath finally evened out. “Why do you need more books from him? You have a ton of them in the library.” He frowned. “Because there’s no such thing as too much book.” I rolled my eyes so hard that they almost tumbled from my head. He was a reader, so why the weird question? Every reader knew there was no such thing as too many books. It was like one of the biggest anti-reader lies in history. “Besides, the books in the library are mostly horrors. The ones he promised to give me are romance. I’ve been dying to have them since their release.”

Sleep would most definitely be eluding me tonight. But I didn’t particularly care. My big vice was romance novels. I just loved them. And the cheesier and sappier and more unrealistic they got, the more I invested myself in them because, by that point, it was pretty much only the emotions they seemed to evoke that mattered. They were just so yummy and fulfilling and...and amazing. I devoured them like potato chips, damning any sleepless-night consequences that might follow. So basically, I was pretty much determined to finish this entire book tonight.

So, you are allowed to read only those stories that make you happy.” I bit my lower lip as I browsed through the pages of the book; briefly glancing at the ending. What Kain didn’t understand was that such happy endings hurt more than the tragic ones. They filled me with a longing I knew could never be fulfilled. They reminded me of everything that I could never have.

Usually when Alland’s mood is not good, he will vent it through novels, and it works very well on him. Fifteen minutes passed, Alland turned the pages of the novel. Then he threw it aside. He let out a rough breath. For some reason, this time he felt annoyed reading the romance genre novel. He felt that love only existed in novels. He never even felt true love.
