Are Romance Novels Bad For You Novels & Stories

There's still long hours till morning. Checking the book in his hand, he discovered it to be a novel. 'The Red and the Black' by Stendhal. After checking the description of the book, he believed it wouldn't be bad to give it a try although he is not fond of reading novels. Leo prefer reading normal books, it doesn't matter which type it is as long as there are not romance books. Most of the romance books he read in the past are rather cliche, untrue and misleading because such love in books doesn't exist in this modern day society.

My thoughts quickly drift back to the stack of novels, and I reach for my tote bag, pulling out the first book my hand touches. Reading romance novels is not exactly good for my mental health, but I cannot seem to stop myself. They make me laugh, they make me cry, and sometimes they make me wish for something similar in my own life. But deep down, I know that is just a fantasy. I know I cannot have it, not now, maybe not ever.

I turn around and take a look at those. "They don't feel the same anymore", I tell him. He immediately frowns in confusion. "So, you got bored with ROMANCE?" "No. But there's a reason", I say, leaning against the shelf and placing my palm over the books. Then I slowly trace my hand over them. "And the reason is—" he leans back too, a foot of distance between us but we can clearly hear each other whispering. "People who read romance, mostly women—" I giggle. "They want to escape reality. So, they can find more beautiful things in fiction"

"I also tried reading to you once. While you were asleep. I picked a romance novel." Louis's eyes widened. "Which one?" "The one you had on your nightstand." "That was a dark romance, Lorenzo. The main character gets buried alive." Lorenzo winced. "I didn't get that far. I fell asleep before the plot started." Louis shook his head, "You are hopeless and annoying” "Hopelessly in love with you," Lorenzo said, the words slipping out before he could stop them. Louis went still. "Don't read any more romance novels," he muttered. "You're bad at it."

“If it’s the one person who makes your heart race and your blood feel like it’s on fire, then yes. Common sense doesn’t stand much of a chance.” “But what if that person is the worst possible choice?” I asked. “What if he doesn’t respect her, doesn’t love her back, treats her like crap?” “Why are you so worked up?” She snatched the book out of my hands and glanced at the cover. Then she snorted. “Oh. I get it now. You’ve been reading again. A historical romance? Honestly, that’s still an improvement over those creepy occult books you used to read. What, you didn’t like the hero?”

I leaned in a fraction of an inch, a teasing glint in my eyes, "I prefer classic literature. Russian realism, psychological thrillers. Dostoyevsky, Fitzgerald, Hemingway. I like substance." "Substance?!" Ruby mocked, completely offended. "Are you implying my romance novels don't have substance? Excuse you, but enemies-to-lovers tropes require intense psychological maneuvering! The angst! The tension! It's art, Alexander. Your little Russian thrillers have nothing on a slow-burn romance."

“It's a love story,” Seraphina replied. Ryan nodded. “I thought you weren’t into romance novels.” “I’ve always loved them. I just didn’t have time before. And once I open a book, I can’t stop—I have to finish it before I sleep, otherwise it totally messes with everything. So I try not to start.” Honestly, he wished Seraphina could be like other girls—bingeing dramas, shopping, reading novels—instead of working overtime with him, even risking her life.

“Learning about psychology is really tough and demanding. You should learn directly from specialists rather than reading books that provide limited knowledge without being able to explain it in depth.” Poppy furrowed her eyes when she noticed the stack of books on the table. Her cheeks flushed as she read each title. “So why are you bringing romance novels... and mature genres like this?
