Zeus's hand twitched at his side, but he stayed calm. He pulled me to his side, his arm firm around my waist, but the exchange lingered, heavy with unspoken threats.
“Step aside, Mancuso.” Zeus said quietly. Deadly. “This isn't your battlefield, and you’re not part of this war.”
Massimo’s lips curved, slow and knowing. His eyes slid to me, lingering long enough to feel like a threat.
“Wars don't need permission, Trojan. It rewrites rules, and pieces don’t always stay where you place them.” he replied, “Which only means one thing...nothing you claim is ever truly permanent.”
