“Oh…okay. I have bread here, wanna share your blue vial with me?”
He frantically nodded and ran up to clutch at my leg with his only free hand and I picked him up and laughed, looking around to locate our special hammock. Mateo had made it for me shortly after I gave birth, it was made of wood that he padded with a lot of foam, so it was both sturdy and soft, like having a suspended bed. It was nestled in between two trees in the small expanse of the woods we had behind Mateo’s home, so we went there and I tossed him in it, delighting in his shriek of laughter – he never grew out of that phase, and I hoped he never did – as I sat down myself.
I brought out the newly baked bread and accepted
