Genesis
"Genesis? My dad wants to see you."
"Your, umm, dad?" I stammered, confused.
"Yeah, Headmaster Cree? My dad." She looked down at her perfectly manicured nails, then huffed, as if my confusion was a personal insult.
Ignoring her blatant rudeness, I turned to Asher, who was already looking at me with that puppy-dog look he always gave me every time I was leaving, a silent plea for me to stay. "I'll see you later? You've still got to teach me the purity spell." I poked him playfully on his stomach, knowing it would bring a genuine smile to his face. I saw the gleam of his sharp teeth, a flash of white against the red, and smiled back when he pulled me in for a quick, comforting hug.
