Ash shrieked tears started to pour down his eyes at the cruelty he just witnessed. His knees were covered with red, crimson blood and he took in the pile of dead bodies scattered everywhere around the room. Their joints, arms and legs were disembodied from their bodies. Their orbit was devoid of any eye sockets anymore, as they bathed in a large, red pool of blood. His stomach churned out and it made him want to puke.

Around midnight she reached the section describing Meher's gradual decline. The whispers. The forest. The growing suspicion. The fear. A knot formed in her stomach. She kept reading. Then came the murder. The rain. The clearing. Meher's final words. I have only loved you. Aisha closed the notebook abruptly. The room felt too warm. For several moments she simply sat there staring at nothing. The tragedy struck harder than she expected. Not because it was real. Because it wasn't. Somehow that made it worse. A fictional murder should not have felt devastating.

He crashes into another soldier and both slam into a crate. I blink. Nyxara’s expression hasn’t changed. But I know. She did that. Without touching him. Without moving. Without even looking directly at him. I had no answer. She let me go. Her gaze shifted to the urn in my arms. "You won't take this when it's offered? Then I am taking it from you. "You will not see your father's ashes again." She reached. The blood in my arms went cold. The control I had been holding cracked. "Please… please don't. It wasn't me. I'll do anything, anything you want. Just don't." I was about to fall to my knees again. I would have. The pride and dignity I'd had walking in here had been gone for hours.

I followed my ruined corpse all the way to the mass grave. My limbs were twisted at unnatural angles, my body covered in crisscrossing bruises, my face drained of every drop of color—like a weed that had been stomped flat by a hundred boots. Soon, a pack of mangy stray dogs caught the scent of fresh meat. Their eyes glowed hungry and green in the darkness as they circled in. At first, they just tugged at the edges of my clothes. Then one bolder mutt sank its teeth into my calf and ripped off a chunk of flesh.

Ashley drug herself up to the doors and pulled. The doors flew open and there was James standing there looking as badass as ever. The pump shotgun in his hands contributed to the imagery. Without a word, he grabbed Ashley by the shoulder to haul her inside before firing off a succession of rounds at the oncoming pack. Werewolves fell down dead at his feet from well-placed head and upper torso shots. The rest of the pack backed up to consider their options now that they faced the legendary hunter himself.

Are you pretending to be clueless?” I did not want to look at him any longer. I was afraid that I might feel disgusted if I did. Williams trembled and tried to hug me. However, Leia suddenly held her forehead and started falling to the side. Coincidentally, she fell right onto Williams. He withdrew his hands and quickly supported her instead.
