"I need... I need some time." He turned and strode out of the room, ignoring the calls of the others behind him. His footsteps echoed down the hallway, each one louder than the last, until he burst through the door into the crisp night air. The forest loomed ahead, dark and silent, a haven from the chaos threatening to consume him. Without hesitation, Asher broke into a run. His muscles burned, his lungs heaved, but he didn’t stop. The wind lashed at his face, cold and biting, as if trying to strip away the layers of pain and confusion that weighed him down.

I stood under the spray until my muscles loosened and my head cleared a little. I dried off and pulled on a black robe. Downstairs I grabbed the Macallan from the bar and poured three fingers into a glass. I sat on the couch with the bottle beside me and stared at the skyline. My phone buzzed. Jake. I answered. “Yeah.” “Apex called. They’re confirming the post-game interview for tomorrow night. The journalist is Madison Pierce. There’s an attached file in your email.” I opened the attachment fast. Madison’s headshot stared back with her duck lips and her heavy makeup. It was the same girl I threw out last time.

The mansion is classy and so eye-catching. I just followed him around, while my stuff will be carried by the other helpers. He turned around and stared at me. “Your room is on the left side with the red door.” he said and turned his back again to walk to his room. He is Ash Jaxon Gulliver, the Alpha of the Dawn’s Clan here in Dawnsville Village. This village is big, and the populations are high. Which is why some people are amused by how he manages this clan with sovereignty.

Ash’s POV The roar of the clubhouse hit me before I even turned off my engine. Laughter, shouts and the sound of bottles clinking rent the air and for a moment, I wonder how they could easily fall back into their normal lives less than twelve hours after an attack. It was chaos the way I remembered it, but somehow louder and more… non challant. Inside, the air was thick with smoke and sweat. A few brothers cheered when they saw me, others nodded, their eyes sharp, reading me like they weren’t sure what version of Ash had come back.

Dawn’s POV: As the warm water from the shower faucet cascaded down my body, I stood shakily under it, sighing as most of the pent up anxiety and stress knotted around my shoulders loosened up. I felt relieved, happy even, until I remembered my last conversation with Zade and how Xavier had walked in on us, interrupting us. What was worse was the quiet stare down that had ensued before Xavier politely asked me to excuse them.

Around her, the five gods went still enough to frighten every freed civilian in the street. Ashar stepped forward first, flame rising over his shoulders like a living crown. “Darius Kelm,” he said, and the name carried enough hatred to harden the air. Mae looked at him sharply, but Ashar did not look away from the screen. His hands curled into fists, and the ground beneath his boots glowed red. “You should be dead.”

Lena answered. “Ashes to ashes”, Dawn replied. Lena relaxed against the pillows “good, that’s good”, she muttered “you better let Harrison in, I think he and I need to talk”. Dawn nodded and got up from the chair. She walked over to the door, pulling it open to reveal the young man sitting across the hall, head in his hands. “Harrison”, she softly called and he looked up at her, tear stains visible on his face “She’s awake and asking for you” Harrison stood up from the chair he’d been sitting in and tentatively headed over to the doorway “I’ll leave you to it”. The black and purple haired witch left the room.

I thanked them and heard the door bell ring. I wished them all goodbye and opened the door to see Ash looking very hot in a tuxedo and I felt my heart starting to race "H-hi" I said and Ash looked up from his phone and he froze "Dawn you... You look beautiful" Ash said and I felt myself blush "Thanks" "Shall we?" Ash asked and I nodded. We both got into the car and drove off. When we arrived, the gallery was already full of people wearing beautiful dresses and expensive tuxedos. As we entered the gallery we spotted Austin right away and started moving towards him.

His eyes are wide, his expression one of disbelief and silent horror. Dawn’s voice is barely a whisper, ragged and hoarse. “My Asher cried all night when you didn’t answer his calls, Travis. You… you don’t deserve to be a father,” she breathes, every word an effort. “My Asher deserved a father who wouldn’t make him cry.” As life drains from her, Dawn’s eyes flutter shut, her body finally succumbing to the numbness that spreads like a cold wave over her limbs. The room seems to close in, the sounds of chaos muffled as darkness overtakes her, pulling her into its merciful embrace.

“And you’ll get us all killed if you can’t keep pace.” The words stung like a blade because they were true. But I tightened my grip anyway, dragging the kid forward. “They stay with me.” Kaia stared a moment longer, then turned, snow crunching under her boots. --- Dawn When dawn finally broke, it was cruel. Pale light spilt over the trees, silver instead of gold, revealing everything sharp instead of soft. We stumbled into a hollow between rocks, shielded from the worst of the wind. Asher dropped first, sinking into the snow, his chest heaving. Kaia leaned against the stone, blade still in her hand, eyes never closing.
