Hot tears. They burned my red bumpy skin. “Help. Anyone?” My voice was raspy. I didn't only feel fear. I could taste it slithering down my throat. I felt a presence. A strong presence. Superior. Powerful. “Embrace it.” A thick and uneven whispering voice spoke. The ash I tried to scrub off from my body slowly dispersed into the air, forming a ball of thick dark fog. Fiery eyes shone from within the fog. “Embrace it.” It said louder, more austere.

It was fine for me, especially with the beautiful view through the large windows and the crackling fire in the fireplace. Asher was standing by the window, a glass filled with what seemed like scotch in his hand. He stared out and I gaped at the sight as I walked over to him after freshening up. It was snowing outside and against the vast expanse of the mountains, the stars bright and beautiful twinkled in the sky. “What are you thinking?” I asked. He turned to me, his eyes dark and I could feel the heaviness he was feeling.
