Adrian got out after seeing Ethan approaching. Lidya's face turned grim when she saw Adrian walking toward her, Ethan's arm around his shoulders. "You!" Lidya hissed. She pointed at Adrian. "You're the one who stole Darius from me!" Adrian glared at Lidya, his caramel-colored eyes turning golden. Lidya was a beautiful woman with a well-shaped body, though not very tall and tending towards the curvy type. As an alpha female, Adrian believed she was arrogant and difficult to please.

Draco snorted angrily. “Astrid. My name is Astrid. Astrid Lewis. Remember it well. I was hoping you wouldn't call me human because it sounds peculiar. Well, Lewis is the name of my favorite great sorceress. So I added Lewis to my nickname,” Astrid said with a happy giggle. “I have an important mission as my first priority, Astrid. I’m busy. I don't have time to play and messing around with you,” snorted Draco arrogantly.

“But I thought that being an Omega here meant….” Astrid cut him off. “It has nothing to do with being an Omega, Zarek. It’s my personal preference and what I prefer to do. I find my happiness taking care of pups and helping other people, but I have no interest in going out and fighting a war,” she explained. Zarek didn’t see any room to fight with her, so he got up from his seat and put a teapot full of water on the stove to boil. He put a bag of chamomile tea in his cup before pouring a hot chocolate packet into another cup for Astrid.

Astrid’s POV My heart is racing, crawling up my throat like a rejected meal, making me feel like I’m going to collapse on the street. I look at my watch again, seeing that it’s fifteen minutes before eight, which is the time of my first class for the day. And yet here I am still, power-walking to Delta Kappa, the fraternity house where my boyfriend stays at. “Hey, Astrid!” one of the frat boys from Delta Kappa greets me as he sees me running up the porch. I forgot his name completely, but I remember him to be one of the friendly ones. “Cade’s still inside.”

KAVEH The engine hummed steadily beneath us as I gripped the steering wheel tighter because even though she had easily agreed, a part of me was still wound and restless. Astrid sat in the passenger seat in a dress that was twice her size, the only thing I could get on short notice. I made a mental note to stock her wardrobe and filed the thought away. Right now, all my attention was on her. Her body was rigid, gaze fixed on the passing city lights as evening fell. I could see the way she fought back tears—jaw clenched, eyes glistening but refusing to spill.

Venus's voice called from the entrance of the room. “Oh, Venus?” she replied, gesturing for her to come in as she booted up her laptop. “Aren’t you sleeping?” Venus asked, standing not far behind her. Astrid shook her head while typing her password on the laptop in front of her. She perched on the corner of the table and continued with her work. “I need to find any background information on Athena Wrenth,” Astrid said, trying to open every file she had previously handled. “Do you know anything about her family history?”

The ‘princess’ of the Denver pack, give me a fucking break. “You’ve gotta meet the guys,” Theo says, and for the first time, Astrid looks past the girls to where Reid, Jax, Gray, and I are standing. As Theo leads her over, I watch her chocolate brown eyes briefly slide between the four of us. Her gaze catches on mine for a moment and I quickly avert my eyes, looking down at the little black ankle boots on Astrid’s feet. Her feet are fucking tiny, and wait a second, are those heels? There’s no way she’s even shorter than she looks…
