Suzy glanced at her grandfather’s coffin. “I’m okay in Baguio, Auntie. Thank you so much,” she answered softly. Her aunt was her mother’s younger sister, but only a daughter born outside of marriage. That was why her mother had always been distant toward her aunt, but Suzy could see more concern and care from this woman than from her own mother and other blood relatives. “If you ever change your mind, don’t hesitate to call me.” Her aunt gently stroked her hair. Her aunt then let her approach her grandfather.

He wanted to leave his sad past behind. His wondering was cut by someone knocking on his door. “Auntie May, what can I do for you?” he asked calmly. “We’d like to invite you outside for snacks. I noticed you haven’t stepped outside since yesterday, I wonder if you have eaten anything,” Auntie May asked. She’s his father’s second cousin. “Thank you, Auntie. I'll join you. I’ll just change clothes,” he said. Nate was surprised to see a lot of delicacies on the long table they set up outside. This looks like a welcome treat for him and not just a simple, regular afternoon snacking.

She said the same answer as always. Auntie. That's not enough... that is so lack for me. I just smiled and ready my plate on table. After eating my breakfast. My auntie already go out the apartment to go on her work. She's a nurse and she's helping me on my studies. Her late husband died but I don't remember what is the cause of his death but I'm certain that he died without leaving a child on my auntie. forgetting things and memories becomes my normal that's why I didn't bother at all.

My dad says and both my aunt and I nod agreeing with him which makes my grandmother laugh. The tension in the living has gone down, I’m sitting beside Carter on the couch. Which by the way he looks completely uncomfortable, my father keeps staring daggers at Carter. To ease more tension away I turn to my aunt asking about her, she’s younger than my dad and she lives in Seattle with her husband and step children, she has no kids of her own. “Auntie I didn’t know you were in New York.” I say to her. “Yeah got here this morning, needed out of Seattle.” She says.

"How do you have my mom's seal? Who the hell are you? What gives you the right to make decisions for her?" I looked into his eyes and announced in a loud, clear voice, "Because she's my biological aunt."
