Heath, his face stern, questioned, "You're disgusted by me?" Head bowed, Aurora remained silent. The dim light in the hallway barely illuminated the scene, leaving Heath unable to discern her expression. He only saw her downturned head and her silence.

Her eyes darted between all of us like she was seeing monsters instead of people. Then, in a broken whisper, she mumbled, “No. No, no, no…” I could hear her breathing turn erratic, her chest rising and falling like she couldn’t catch her breath. And then she said something that made my heart stop. “So, the love of my life…” she whispered, voice barely audible. “If I kill you, am I supposed to be happy with myself?” Her eyes glistened. “Because I don’t understand.”
