— Back at the penthouse. Aurora sat on the couch with her phone in her hands. The apartment felt too quiet without Adrian there. She tried watching television. Then reading. Nothing worked. Her mind kept drifting back to the meeting at Blackridge Tower. Richard Vaughn’s calm smile. His offer. His threat. Aurora closed her eyes for a moment. She didn’t like the feeling growing inside her chest. Something told her this wasn’t over. Not even close. Just then her phone vibrated.

Since when did her father have another daughter? Aurora struggled to stay calm, she glanced around, then stopped at the calendar on the table. June fifteenth year two thousand zero twenty-one… Still today. So what is going on in the end? It is better than a few years later, it is understandable that her parents have adopted another daughter. Aurora was confused, she was extremely bewildered, a crisis suddenly welled up in her heart, burning like lava. It felt like her life was stolen. Something got out of hand, out of control.

, Butler James asked when he saw her walking around. "No, Butler James. I am just trying to get busy. Am bored to death. Just don't mind me. Keep doing your work", she waved him off. The Butler bowed and left. Aurora kept roaming around the mansion until she got to a room with a transparent but solid window rail. The room was filled with different books and papers. Maybe she could get something to read in there, she thought as she pushed the door open. When she got in she saw that it was a study room. She looked around to see if she could find any interesting books to read. She searched but the books there were just about leadership and many confidential files and documents.

A fun night is a concept lost on us now. “I can’t drink--” “Even better!” Aurora hugs me lively, “You can watch me drink and drive me home after! Perfect!” She manages to get a laugh out of me. “I have to run, but don’t you dare stand me up tonight, you hear me?!” Aurora checks the Swiss on her wrist in a hurry, dashing out before struggling with her high heel by the door, “See you at Nightingale, 8 pm!”

I stated, my voice laced with emotions. Aurora took her eyes away from Maya and gazed at me. "And we are both lucky to have you in our lives. When I came here at first, I didn't know how things would turn out for me. I might have been dead but I guess fate had better things in store for me." She glanced at Maya who had already fallen asleep, her chest rising and falling in a slow rhythm. She dropped her in the cot and straightened her legs then turned around to face me.

Aurora's voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I looked up at her. A smile curled up my lips as I held her hands tightly. "I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you and our team. You all made it happen." I smiled, and she immediately closed the distance between us, hugging me tight. "We are going places," Aurora mumbled and I stiffened instantly, the words she said earlier echoing back in my head. Havencrest Global. Inviting me to their Autumn Gala in Boston? Aurora pulled back, still clutching my hands.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for the aurora to appear, and sure enough, the aurora lit up the sky, dazzling and mysterious. Amid the gasps of wonder from the crowd, I heard him whisper softly, “Naomi, I’m sorry.” Then, he jumped without hesitation. I did not move forward. Instead, I turned my gaze back to the aurora. All those stories about the aurora were lies. The aurora was once my youthful obsession, but I realized its beauty was not meant for this world. The beauty of the aurora transcended love. It deserved freedom.

I canceled my ticket to Iceland. Even the customer service agent sounded confused. “There are only two seats left on this flight. Are you sure you want to cancel?” “Yes,” I said. “I’m sure.” We had been together for four years. Every February, he flew to Iceland. He always said it was for a photography project. On social media, he only posted glaciers and the northern lights. Whenever I said I wanted to see the aurora too, he would tell me, “It’s too cold there. You wouldn’t be able to handle it.” Then yesterday, I helped him organize an old hard drive. Inside was an encrypted folder named **February**. When I opened it, every photo was of the same girl standing beneath the same no

"Okay..it's up to you to decide. I just help you to create a way for you to be free again. If you think you can't handle the small matter like this, then good luck for your future with her." She continues again to walk, and Kinslee follows her behind. They didn't talk much until both of them part their way. ***....... After Aurora finishes her working hours, she takes her handbag and leaves the library. "Hi, done your work for today?" Ralph's smiling at her while waiting for her outside of the library building. "Oh! Hi." Aurora was a bit surprised by the sudden voice that greets her from behind. "Shall we go? Grab a coffee?" he asked and went over to her.

Minutes later, we were done and Aurora and I took a stroll around the pack. In the course of the stroll, I got curious as to why she was there and how she found out about this place. She told me about a lady who looked exactly like her and told me of their meeting and how the lady told her about her people, about their sufferings and need for freedom. She decided to come here in the hope of helping them get back their freedom, and fighting alongside them to make sure they got what they deserved, which was peace and acceptance by the mean wolves out there.
