I used my first paycheck to buy Alex a permanent, peaceful grave. I soon had a little house of my own. Small, but the windows faced sunrise. I didn’t have to wait for anyone or guess at anyone’s heart. The hurt wasn’t gone. On full-moon nights, the knot of Leo and Finn still pulsed. Life wasn’t as comfortable as before. But I knew I was on my path, step by step, leaving behind the cell called “Blackwood Luna.” I was no one’s stand-in, no one’s mother, no one’s possession. I was just Elara, learning to live for myself.

Still looking at her, I softly chime, “Katelyn is the difference this time. She is a healer. Her healing abilities have helped to speed my transformation along faster.” Our conversation is interrupted when her eyes flutter open. Oh, she is so cute. I can’t take my eyes off of her as she blinks a few times before she bolts upright in her chair. She still has her hand wrapped around mine as she chimes, “Wyatt! You’re awake!” A soft chuckle escapes my mouth as my eyes twinkle in delight. “Yes. I have just woken up a few minutes ago. I’ve been talking to Dr. Bright about what has happened.”

*** Philip opened his eyes and glanced around the room, wondering what had woken him up. It didn't take him long to figure out that it was the buzzing sound coming from his phone. He would have reached for the phone but his mate chose that moment to snuggle closer against him. Philip's arms instinctively tightened around Troy, his phone, completely forgotten.

Chapter 25 The room was quieter than a grave, but the silence cut deeper than any blade. My wolf should have been on edge, but instead, every coil of tension in me twisted into something dangerous, almost ecstatic.

Nyra stepped back as the world around us tore itself open in a spiral of moonlight. “Go,” she commanded. “Breathe again. Walk again. Change everything.” The doorway behind us shattered. My eyes snapped open to a sky full of stars. I lay in the same blood soaked snow I died in. Beside me, Rowan gasped awake, coughing, then laughing through the shock.

Alyssa exclaimed after seeing all the things on a particular page. "What Is it, Alyssa?" Asked Berk worried. "Don't worry Berk everything is going to be fine, let's go," replied Alyssa as she keeps the book on the floor. "Are we done?" Berk asked surprised. "Yes we are," Alyssa replied and they both left the room. As soon as they turned and left the room, the book closes back by itself, and the book cover reads; 'THE BOOK OF SHADOWS' and then the book disappears. . .

When I opened my eyes again, I was in a hospital room. Fortunately, I had called the police. Both Edith and I were rescued. Evelyn's voice came. "Edith, you haven't eaten for a day. I've brought you food." I looked up and saw her cutting fruit into different shapes, trying to feed Edith. Edith was annoyed, but when she noticed that I was awake, she raised her eyebrows proudly and took a bite of the fruit.

My eyes drift closed. The darkness behind my lids is the same as the darkness in the cell. The same suffocating blackness that wraps around my chest and squeezes. I'm so tired. So impossibly, bone-deep tired. Just for a moment, I tell myself. Just a few minutes of sleep. Then I'll wake up. Then I'll keep fighting. Then, the door creaks. My eyes snap open. Footsteps. Light. Careful. Not Kai's heavy tread. Not the guards' careless shuffle. Someone else.
