I followed the lieutenant out of the room and out to the main corridor, wondering what I was in store for. Cold, I could handle, but if the rest of it was as bad as Forty-Five made it sound… this wasn’t going to be fun. When we arrived, she nodded to a guy in a heavy coat, who stood by a door simply marked “The Box”. It was locked tight. “Hey… is level four busy?” The guy shook his head. “Naw, hardly ever. What did this guy do to earn level four?” “Lied to his C.O.” Lieutenant Beta said quietly.

I tried to sit up, but my movements were sluggish, like a marionette with tangled strings. As my eyes adjusted to the faint light, I realized I was in a cavernous space, surrounded by colossal obsidian pillars that jutted out from the ground. The air was heavy with an otherworldly chill, and a palpable sense of foreboding hung in the atmosphere. "Where am I?" I whispered to myself, my voice barely more than a breath. My memories of what had transpired earlier were fragmented, and the last thing I could recall was the intense confrontation between Hayden and Mason.

I turned my back to the body as my stomach emptied its contents. I slowly straightened, surveying the massacre. About twenty scorched bodies laid motionless amongst the burnt remnants. Every now and then, you could see a flicker of yellow, white, and black fabric. I bent back over and disposed of anything left in my stomach. Averting my eyes from my vomit, I quickly scanned the area again, trying not to pay too much attention to the detail. “What the . . .”

We went down. The lower level smelled different. I noticed it immediately — something dense and slightly stale in a way that had nothing to do with ventilation. I understood, after a second, that it was the collective suppression of four Lures in a contained space, their natural output artificially flattened for so long that the air itself felt wrong. Renna's jaw was tight. The corridor was white and fluorescent and had four doors off it, two on each side. "Left first," she said under her breath. "Owen. Then Jade. Cam is the last door on the right. Ben is—" A brief pause. "Ben is next to Cam."

I looked at the violet tree I was building. "Is this the 'Real' world?" I asked the woman in the chair. "No," she whispered. "This is **Level 74**. And you're the only one who can 'Save-Game' before the power goes out."

The formations are stalactites and stalagmites. There are bones of small animals scattered about There is an echo like a cave; the rocks feel rough and smooth. The inside is comparable to a geode. Angela finds herself lost; as she turns around. Of weight. “Endure.” I bled. My shoulder gave under the impact. But I crawled. Clawed. Shoved my hand into the dirt and begged it to listen. It did. A staircase opened. I climbed. Stage Four: Water Darkness. Then cold. Then the plunge. I hit icy depths, lungs compressing, pressure pulling me down, down, down.

In a flash, I use sprint and dashed out from my shelter closing in the distance in a few secs and land a strike using my iron claws exactly on its head. Abram kicked it open, the metal groaning as it hit the wall. "Who goes there?" a voice shouted from below. Abram didn't answer with words. He leaned over the railing and let out a long, terrifying howl. It wasn't the sound of a man. It was the sound of the Blood Hunt. From deep below, a dozen voices answered. The prisoners. They knew. The mountain echoed with the sound of a hundred wolves calling for vengeance. They reached Level Four. The air here was different—thick with the smell of chemicals, antiseptic, and rot. Abram kicked through the final door and stepped into a nightmare.

Eliana whispered, her breath misting in the frigid air. She was right. The narrow, utilitarian concrete corridor suddenly flared outward, transitioning into a massive, vaulted chamber constructed entirely of brushed steel and reinforced glass. Above the heavy, double-wide blast doors at the entrance, a digital sign glowed with a sickly green light: LEVEL 4: BIO-EXTRACTION & REFINEMENT. "This is it," Baraka said, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous register. "This is the core of the facility." The blast doors were slightly ajar, the hydraulic locks having failed long ago. Baraka pushed them open with a heavy screech of metal on metal.
