She smiles as she climbs into bed. Kim smile as she moves over next to Brianna. I walk over taking a seat at the end of the bed as Kim open the book. "The very hungry caterpillar." She read the title to Brianna before opening the book. "In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and pop out the egg came a very tiny and a very hungry caterpillar." Kim looks over at me sitting on the end of the bed and smile as she turns the page and continues to read the book.

“This tastes really great," I said with a mouth full of pizza slices. “I know right?" Kate smiled then her eyes went over to the book I was previously reading that was placed on the bed where I had kept it. Picking it up “The Hybrid's Daughter-Red Moon The Curse," she uttered the book title loud enough for me to hear before. “What's this?" She asked. “A book obviously," I replied, a bit sarcastic. “I know it's a book, what I would like to know is when did you start reading books like this? Wolves and all that?" Kate said looking at me suspiciously like I have committed a sin or something.

S U M M E R My little minion took her sweet time getting ready for bed. When I walked in, she was still chattering away, holding out one of three different books for us to read. "That one, Mommy! I love alligators. And wolves. Do we have any books about wolves?" Only my daughter would choose an alligator book over a cheerful dog or a cuddly teddy bear. But wolves? "I don't think we have any wolf books, but how about a doggie story?"

"Daddy." "It's none of your fucking business who I talked to," I spat, not even acknowledging the mocking tone in his English tainted voice. "So drop it." He shrugged again before unzipping my bag and pulling out my sketchbook. "Ooh, you color, Tiger?" He teased, looking at me with a smug eyebrow raised. "Dude!" I rush over to him and reach up to take the book back. "You nosy asshole! Drop it!" He only laughed and held it out of my reach as he started flipping through the pages. "Let's see what we have here," he said, mockery dripping out of his voice as he examined the pages, still holding the book from my reach. His fucking height did me no favors.

Thankfully, the publishing of my books have gotten me to the life I have always dreamt of- even written of some sort of fairytale I always wanted to be the main character in. “C’mon, Luc,” I chime out as I hold open the door for the distracted white kitten who’s playing with her racoon-like tail in the dark of midnight. She lets out a whiny meow in response then begins running towards the house. A whisk of the cold fall air has me closing the door imeddiately behind her as she enters the cottage. Shivers run down my spine in response and I scurry over to the furnace where all the animals are currently laying about on the furniture and on their beds.

“If your room’s a complete dump, Zeke, I won’t be surprised. You look like the type to hoard a vast amount of mismatched socks and massive, soul-crushing secrets.” He rolls his eyes, opens the door— —and my breath catches, freezing the retort on my tongue. It’s bright. Too bright. The walls are a soft, pale white, the curtains a gentle yellow. The room is immaculate. Clean. Organized. Cheerful, even. Like a child's. Dad said he wouldn't take long but it was an hour already and he was nowhere to be found.
