Blind Faith
As he stood beside them, glasses in hand, Hank opened his eyes, then shut them again.
“He seems to like you.”
“I love big dogs,” she said. My father owned a Mastiff when I was a young child. The dog rarely left my side. His name was Buddha.”
Gideon laughed. “Interesting name for a dog.”
“Oh, he earned that name, believe me.” She took the offered drink. “Thank you.” Her first sip was savored, just like she savored everything in life. “Mmm, Barolo, my favorite.”
Hank moaned as if complaining about the interruption. It sounded more like a cross between a growl and a howl.
