Amelia retorted, though her breath came heavy with the exertion of keeping atop the writhing behemoth.
"Archer! Your aim is true!" called Gabriel, nodding to Alaric, who stood poised with bowstring taut, his arrow notched and ready.
"Let the winds guide my hand," Alaric murmured, an incantation that shimmered around him like a cloak. The wind spirit he'd bonded with swirled around the arrow, and when he released it, the projectile flew unerringly, piercing the eye of an approaching sea serpent. It recoiled, thrashing wildly, its cry a terrible, echoing bellow.
