“That’s the plan. You’ll be the soccer star, and I’ll be the gymnast. The spotlight’s gonna love us.”
She struck a silly pose, hands on her hips, chest out. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“See? You like me,” she teased.
“No, I don’t,” I said, shaking my head with a grin. “At least, not in the way you want.”
“You can’t predict that,” Barbara replied, a sly smirk on her face. “I’m like a bad song you hear on the radio. Annoying at first, but then you start humming it without realizing it.”
