“Matthew,” answered all three teens at once.
My pen was already out, flipping open a small notepad to look like we were doing something official. “Right,” I said, clicking it once. “And where can we find this Matthew?”

Matthew Conner worked at a dusty old music store along the town’s sleepy main street. When Alexandra yanked open the door, a rush of distorted guitar notes spilled onto the sidewalk.
The inside was cluttered—vintage posters, crates full of vinyl, handwritten signs taped to every corner. There were only a couple of people inside, thumbing through records. A young guy, no more than eighteen, stepped out from behind the counter.
