As a low-income student who's specifically recruited by the elite college this year, I can still feel my hands trembling as I clutch the letter that tells me I get to study for free. Not only are my tuition and miscellaneous fees waived, but I also get to receive 30 thousand dollars' worth of student grant per year. I even get to have free access to the leather seats inside the library, the equipment inside the gym, as well as the aerial garden on the roof. The best surprise for me has to be the cafeteria. All low-income students get a 50% discount on their meals, but the quality of their food doesn't decrease at all. Best beef is used in the steak dinners offered by the cafeteria, whereas a seafood platter showcases the entire huge lobster. Even the most basic mac and cheese meal has different types of freshly grated cheese baked into it. As I sit in the brightly lit classroom and look at the rich students around me, who wear custom-made uniforms and have branded watches latched around their wrists, all I have is one thought. I must be on good terms with them. But my seatmate, who's also a low-income student, isn't as thrilled as me. In fact, she just looks at the people around her with disdain in her eyes. After the first lesson, a rich student arrives at our table. He might not sound polite at all, but at least he's not putting on airs. "Do any of you have time to head over to the cafeteria and buy me breakfast?" I'm about to respond to him when a shrill voice booms out next to me. "You're so annoying! What, you think you rule the campus since you're rich? Had I known that this classroom is filled with useless scions like you who just waste their lives away on nothing, I wouldn't have enrolled in this college in the first place!"

Daaaarrr ! Lagi-lagi suara petir, biarpun aku nggak terlonjak seperti tadi tapi cukup bikin hati lumayan ngenes. Dengan kecepatan siput seperti ini jam berapa aku akan sampai Jakarta. Pheeeww…aku menarik nafas lega, minimal dia bisa berbicara, coba kalau dia ternyata tidak bisa berbicara dan aku tidak tahu menahu bahasa isyarat bagaimana kita akan berkomunikasi coba? “Bandung….” Jawabku ragu-ragu, aku tidak yakin apa maksud pertanyaan dia dengan “tempat apa ini”, apa maksudnya kita di mana? Aku yakin sih aku belum meninggalkan bandung. “Bandung? Apa itu nama desa?” Hah…dia tidak tau Bandung? Mati gue, jangan-jangan tabrakan tandi membuat dia gegar otak. Sekarang dia mengalami amnesia dan tidak tahu siapa dirinya, tidak tahu apapun! Terus apa yang harus aku lakukan? Tiba-tiba aku ingat film Jason Bourne, dimana dia mengalami amnesia setelah tertembak dan jatuh ke laut. Tetapi lelaki ini bukan Jason Bourne, tapi dari postur badan dan wajahnya bisa saja lho dia menjadi the next Jason Bourne. Aarrrgghhh gue ngelantur lagi. “Mas ingat namanya siapa?” ok, pertanyaan basic untuk memastikan apakah dia amnesia atau bukan. “Gajah Mada” jawabnya singkat. Aku dengan refleks menyunggingkan senyum kecil, pasti emak bapak si emas ini adalah fans berat patih maha tersohor dari Majapahit tersebut. “Kenapa kamu tersenyum?” tanyanya membuyarkan lamunanku.

Ia rela bertarung mengalahkan para pemuda tengil itu. Walau tak punya basic bela diri, badannya yang gede tidaklah letoy, tetapi cukup kekar untuk sekedar melintir tangan para cowok kurang ajar itu. Akhirnya mereka kapok dan tidak berani menggoda lagi. Aku juga mulai berteman dengan Dina, saat motor Dina keserempet sebuah mobil dan pengemudinya tidak mau bertanggung jawab karena merasa anak seorang aparat. Ia pasang badan ketika pengemudi itu ngotot merasa tidak bersalah. Ardhia mengancam akan mendatangi kantor ayahnya kalau tidak bersedia ganti rugi. Akhirnya ia mengalah dan Dina menjadi temannya. Berteman dengan Sonia adalah hal paling unik yang ia rasakan. Sonia yang kurus kering ingin sekali punya badan sedikit gemuk. Ia ingin mendapatkan sedikit tips dari Ardhia untuk membuatnya gemuk. Dunianya yang ceria seketika berubah. Dulu ada semacam perjanjian antara Ayahnya dengan temannya untuk menjodohkannya dengan anak laki-lakinya, Yudha. Istri calon besan Ayah ternyata tidak setuju karena badan Ardhia yang gendut. Kepercayaan dirinya terkikis demi melihat Ayah tertunduk sedih. Teman-temannya berusaha membuatnya percaya diri. Akhirnya pernikahan pun terjadi. Yudha rupanya mempunyai kebiasaan buruk. Ia gemar berselingkuh. Hal yang menyenangkan saat membuat jebakan-jebakan bersama dengan teman-temannya.
