Stanley Batton wore a gray turtleneck sweater under a long black woolen coat, with a pair of black pants and black leather shoes. His hair and shoulders were covered in unmelted snow, but he still managed to look cool and dignified. Just one look was enough to make Xyla Quest’s heart pound. Stanley carried a sizable paper bag sporting a logo belonging to his wife's favorite bakery. Xyla immediately cheered up when she saw it. “Honey, did you buy me a cake?”

Then he leans back onto the dark wood headrest of an unreasonable large bed, smirking like a boy who’s just discovered a new toy. “Please tell me I haven’t interrupted a ritual sacrifice,” he says, very calmly. “It’s skincare,” I snap, clutching the front of my tee, just to remember I’m actually braless. “It clears pores,” I over-explain. “No judgment,” he says, “It’s sweet that you’re prepping for me. I just wasn’t expecting Batman’s sexier cousin.” I narrow my eyes, which only makes the mask crinkle. “You’re lucky I signed that NDA.”

His hair is ruffled up into a messier 'just fucked' version of his everyday look. He looks hot, I'm pretty sure this is him trying to dress like the joker but not going because he is too egotistical to dress as anyone but himself. It must run in the family because well, look at his sister, she's dressed as the replica of the Moon goddess that she is. Santiago is dressed as Batman minus the cape, the suit convincing me he should actually be him but I don't stare long because Adrian is watching me watch the room tonight. I don't need to see him to feel his piercing gaze of warning.

Craig remained silent. The wig he held in his hand felt like a scorching piece of iron, leaving him unsure of what to do. Seeing the situation, Eden stepped forward and snatched the wig from his hand. As she tossed it into my arms, her eyes were filled with unrelenting hostility. I calmly put the wig on. After all, a frail woman wandering the streets with a shaved head would definitely stand out. I couldn't help but chuckle. "Eden, you really don't have to be so scared. He looked at me as he heard me coming out of the bathroom. "Thanks for the shirt. I'll go now," I said and started to head for the door. "Wait!" I halted. "Stay for a minute. The party is kinda boring," he said. True. It was kind of lame. Spilling beer on the former high school bad boy was the most interesting thing that happened so far. I sat down on the chair in front of him. "You are one of the Brown sisters, aren't you?" he asked. "Yeah! I'm the ugly one!" I blurted out.

Of course, I would be stunned, I’ve never seen anything like him. There was a magnificent tattoo of a bat hanging upside down on the side of his neck, surrounded by deadly snake-like vines. It looked mysterious with stars twinkling all around it and I could bet on Carmine’s tail that there were more under the grey Henley shirt he wore. All buttons of his shirt were loose, with sunglasses hanging at the end of the placket, and if his muscles filled up those long sleeves, he had to have some load in those sweatpants. ‘What did you say about my tail again?’

I couldn't see through the mask they wore on their faces, but I could tell they weren't just here to talk. “What do you want from me!!” I yelled as they got very close to me by the bed. And then, the man who seemed like he was the leader of the group of men in a suit in that room. He had his hands on my wrist, like he was searching for a pulse or probably something else. I looked into the mask as he stood right next to me, but still I couldn’t get any view of how he looked. He had my hand placed right down to the bed, as he had my head pushed to the side revealing the part that had been bitten by the old wolf.

“All this? You mean my jaw-dropping fashion taste?” I smirk faintly. “Well, I can't say jaw-dropping but ... I mean, you don’t dress like the rest of them.” He laughs, his head lolling back. “Fair.” Then his gaze catches mine again, and that smirk returns. “You’ve got beautiful eyes, Betty.” The words land like a whisper, and I forget how to breathe for a second. Then I laugh awkwardly, trying to shake it off. “Thanks, Batman.” He tilts his head back, shaking his head. “You’re never letting that go, are you?”

The dashboard opened, revealing bundles of banknotes. She stopped and looked at him incredulously. “Fuck! What are you? Some sort of Mafia ?” “That's irrelevant,” he took out a fat bundle of cash.” This is twice the cost of that piece of junk which you were driving. Take it.” He waved the bundle towards her. Lisa wasn't sure if she should take him seriously or not. “Who are you? Superman?” He chuckled, and one corner of his mouth turned up in that amused smile he'd been wearing off and on all night. “I prefer Batman. I don't think I can pull off that atrocious red and blue leotard.”
