Bear Town Series Novels & Stories

Becky and her blunt words. Larin laughed good-naturedly. “He’s taller than I am, and his bear is a more honey colour.” This time it was Evan who dropped his toast on his plate. “Bear? What, he’s bringing a pet bear with you?” “No, well yes, I guess we all bring our bear with us. Remember, I said we’re duel-natured.” “Right. You still need to prove that one.” Gemma drank half her coffee before she heard something that made her spit it out.

Staying close behind them, I scouted for a safe hiding spot. As they moved closer to the bear, memories of my previous life surfaced. The searing pain of teeth tearing into flesh, the helplessness of being left to die—my heart raced, but I forced myself to focus. Once they were in position, I imitated Bonnie's voice from deep in my abdomen and let out a loud shout, ensuring it would grab the bear's attention. Then I swiftly retreated behind a large tree. The bear flinched, its body stiffening as its head jerked toward the sound. With a powerful leap, it charged.

the driver asked. “In the Light Bar,” Aisha responded. She thinks she might go to the bar and need a drink to forget what happened a while ago. “I will fucking kill that girl with your husband, Aisha! I will fucking kill her! How are they making you cry, and that asshole! How dare he hurts you?!” Kai—her wolf, was understandably more aggressive than usual. Aisha held onto her chest; she could still hear the loud beating of her heart; Kai was about to go and take over her body, “Calm down, Kai. I settled that already; keep quiet,”

Bri “Oh fuck! Shit!” Beau's voice hollered, pulling me from the depths of my thoughts. His shout trailed from the dock to the side of the house. “Sug, come get this fucking bird!” He cried out, moving towards the back as I quickly dried my hands chuckling to myself. I made my way to the back porch where Wyatt was leaning up against the fence of the coop, a silent laugh shaking his shoulders as Beau shot by, chased by ‘Oh Henry,’ the now grown rooster. He was a proud bit of living poultry with bright shining feathers. However, it seemed he and Beau didn't see eye to eye. When Beau was out of earshot we found ourselves laughing out loud, at his expense.

PHIN The Bayou was shrouded in twilight. As I walked along the worn path toward the docks, the scent of brackish saltwater and moss was thick, like before a storm. Teddy's scent was unmistakable, mixed with whiskey. He'd been keeping to himself more lately, and that never meant anything good.

But Nicoli didn’t care to ask. “Very well. Then, I will be on call.” Thomas, instead, bowed, hiding the annoyance on his face. Nicoli waited until Thomas closed the door before he started. With the door closed, Nicoli sprang to his bed to find the one loose bedpost. It twisted off to reveal the empty tube. Nicoli reached in to pull out the small bear. It’s still safe. Nicoli thought with relief. No one had found it yet again. Hopefully, no one will. The bear was the only thing Nicoli still had.

Twenty-four hours later I get Mina’s report via email. It’s one sentence: Thunderbirds are go! I call her. “You’re sure?” I say before she can greet me. “No shady stuff? At all?” “Nothing. Bear owns a business—two businesses, actually. Mechanic plus body shop. They do well enough that he paid his brother back the initial investment, plus profit. Did you know Bear isn’t his real name?” “No… well, I figured it was a nickname.”
