The Lion leaps into the air to crush the injured beast but my feet are still frozen, a cry of distress escapes my mouth and I might have still not caught up with my reality but apparently my beast has because suddenly I shift into my beast, who is fast enough to throw the lion away from the male beast. As the Lion crashes into a giant tree, the rest of the clan circles around us, but my beast is not in the mood for a joke. Its eyes were like a blood-red sun and a moon hanging in the air, constantly roaring like babies crying. Led by that enormous beast, all the fierce beasts of the alien species seemed to be crazy. Some of them were flying in the sky and some advancing on the ground; some were nine-headed lions and some were winged tigers. Many other monsters were emerging from the ground, like pangolins, with shining scales covering their bodies. All of them were roaring, and their sound even overwhelmed the sky and the sun. They were rushing toward the masters of the two clans. The ground trembled and the mountains collapsed.

His chest still rose and fell from the game, his jersey tugged tight across muscles hockey shouldn’t legally be allowed to build. His eyes cut to the bully trio, cold as the ice behind him. “Touch her again,” he said, voice low and lethal, “and you’ll regret ever being born.” Jessica’s smirk collapsed instantly. The ground answers. One by one, my wolves transform, answering my call, charged with the raw dominance that surges from my very soul. Their howls join mine, a chorus of fury and unity. Moments later, two massive forms crash down beside me. Luke and Ron, already in beast form, snarling, ready. We circle the intruders. The young wolves stand their ground but tremble, heads lowered in reluctant submission. Fear ripples off them like heat. I push forward, growling low.

His paws, massive and powerful, left deep impressions in the sand, yet he didn’t sink a single inch, as though the desert had no power over him. His thick, fiery tail swished through the air, leaving trails of scorched sand in its wake. I shivered at the sheer size of the beast. “It’s a black lion… covered in flames?” Pelin said, stunned this time. “Yes. It seems so,” I replied, unable to look away from the beast. “Any last words?” she asked jokingly, giving me a gentle shove in the side. “I’d rather not,” I admitted with a smirk. Her laughter was brief, then she whispered, “We can’t fight them both. What if that scorpion stings when we are not looking?”

Just an order. I stepped out, closed the door behind me, and shifted back into my beast form. Stone blurred beneath my paws as I tore through Blackreach, past its gates and straight for the edge of the Whispering Woods. By the time I reached Brammon and Rhydan, the forest line was already crawling with movement. Manticores came first. Dozens of them—their humanlike faces fixed in those eerie, empty expressions. Lion bodies, scorpion tails arched high, each one moving in perfect, unnatural formation.

The spirit beast ran to the border before stopping, but all we could see were the three beastmen. "You vile beasts, where have you taken Vee?" Mother angrily scolded them, forgetting that she was merely the ruler of a small kingdom. Sure enough, the three beastmen burst into laughter upon hearing that. Felix casually tugged on a rope beside him. "Ha! Like mother, like daughter—so defiant." Sharp wails came from the cliff's edge. "Mother, no! Don't anger them or I'll die! They're all insane!" Mother was gripping my hand tightly, and when she discovered Victoria hanging from the cliff wall by a thin rope, her nails dug into my flesh.
