He said that Liam had left on a Dreadbeast, and he said the name with a kind of grim respect. I had seen those creatures in the stables before, and they weren't like regular horses. They were massive, predatory beasts with eyes like glowing coals and muscles that looked like they were made of iron. They were far more dangerous and powerful than any normal horse, and they could walk more miles without rest and run faster than anything else in the woods. This was something I hadn't expected, and it probably meant that Liam felt extra threatened by Sylas if he had felt the need to take a Dreadbeast out into the night.

However I was scared of the answer. "Beast."

“Cold?” “Freezing,” I muttered, even though his sweaty jersey was ten times worse. He ruffled my hair—messy, playful, the way only a big brother would… but to outsiders?
