And then I’ll be alone, and I’ll have lost them both. I put the beef in the pot, and it starts sizzling loudly. I pour in the water and the sauce and put the lid on. This is the part that takes time. The beef has to get soft so it can be tender. Just like Adam loves it. Just like my heart is too fucking soft over him. It’s been through so much, but it’s still beats wildly only for him. My jaws clamp down onto the side of his neck. With one jerk, I rip out his jugular. He falls face down into the dirt unmoving. I shutter slightly at the taste of squishy boney flesh in my mouth. ‘You are so ridiculous. It’s just flesh and you like horror films!’ Ember rolls her eyes.
