Her Worst Nightmare
Ethan was where I had last seen him, laying on his back, shoulders lifted off the ground, arms raised, perfectly still.
The Cherubim was suspended in the air, its body bent and frozen as if it had been hit hard in the mid-section, its long muscular arms outstretched, thin, bony fingers splayed. Its terrible mouth was set wide, in a silent rictus scream that would never come, its gaunt face stricken in agony. The sheer size of the beast was huge in comparison to Ethan, and yet, he held the monstrous creature there, almost as if he had stopped time itself, almost as if the beast was as light as a feather from one of its wings.
Everything was eerily quiet.
