She pushed the door open and started to let her eyes adjust to the gloom beyond. "Axel?" The voice came out of the darkness. Rosa flicked on the lights as anger coursed through her veins. Lisa lay across the top of the sheets. Her green dress from earlier was discarded on the floor and she was stark naked. She had scattered rose petals across the bed and she was idly playing with some of them. She held one of the satin petals in her hands and she drew it across her erect nipples. Her eyes were closed. Rosa cleared her throat and crossed her arms across her chest.

As I put one of my feet inside of the warm and welcoming water filled with the petals of the beloved and most beautiful rose. I sometimes wonder why it has so much love being given to it. It is so imperfect, yet that is its perfection just like all of us--We are perfect and one because of the imperfections of us. I also wonder why a rose just steals my heart every time I look at it--it's just so magnificent. Is it because of the color that it possesses or because of the way it possesses the frail heart of mine? So melted in my thoughts that I was, I didn't realize that I had to get out of the bath to get ready.

I woke up to red roses everywhere in my room, the smell was amazing. I stretched, feeling the softness of the bed and the warmth of the bodies surrounding me. Heather did not take the flowers. She told the waiter to send them back. "Tell Mr. Pennington that I don't like red roses." Red roses were Anne's favorite, not hers. She only liked pink ones.

He opened the door and led me inside. But as I stepped into the room, my eyes widened in astonishment at the sight before me. Rose petals were sprinkled all over the floor, a delicate path of red leading to the bed. The bed, which I had neatly made before we left, was now transformed into a romantic display. Flowers were arranged in the shape of a heart, their soft fragrance filling the air. Candles flickered gently on the nightstands, casting a warm, golden glow around the room.

Those were blissfully naive times. Issabelle was in awe, she had never seen a room so extravagant, filthy but extravagant. She was watching Rose to see what emotions would show on her face as she felt the bed linens and picked up the opal brush that still had strands of her mother’s hair. As Issabelle noticed Rose’s color rise and the tears come to her eyes, she began mumbling, “all this dust and cobwebs, how can you see anything in here?! From the glow rose a single spark that drifted upward, caught in the wind, and vanished into the clouds. A signal. “Let the packs see it,” I whispered. “Let them know the moon bleeds again.” Varyn’s men moved to the edges of the ruin, lighting torches, feeding them to the storm. The smoke curled crimson, thick and deliberate, rising into the gray sky. Far away, I knew, he would see it Ares in his fortress, watching the same smoke climb the horizon like a scar. I turned my face toward the forest, where the goddess’s silver still slept.
