I yelled crudely like he wasn’t two steps away from me. Best to ask and get it over with so I could start prepping my will. I did not stretch my leg. Crutches were hard to come by. “I’m not eating you…yet. Don’t test my patience, Nola.” Hector’s honeyed baritone was surprisingly calm. But so were the true-blood werewolves that ate my parents.

TK reached for the Twinkie and Christopher's hand shot out, gripping the other man's wrist tightly but not painfully. "Not the Twinkie." The black man dropped the snack cake and only then did Christopher release his grip. TK scowled. "You gonna heat that spaghetti up?" "Nope." He opened the lid and forked cold congealed spaghetti into his mouth. TK made gagging sounds. Everyone ate a lot, but not everyone ate the way Beast did. But not everyone worked out the way he did, either.

"Listen up, class! Mr. Zane Atlantis here is going to be your new teacher. He is a professor, and I hope you will be able to lean from him." "Oh, he can teach me all night!" A girl suddenly yelled and Mrs. James rolled her eyes. She looked like she had been expecting the reaction, as the rest of the girls giggled, a few just staring at him like they were watching prey. Alpha Zane said nothing and the woman spoke up again. "Detention, Bonnie. Now for the rest of you, I would like you to behave. You do not want to give Zane the impression that all of you are some kind of starved little girls now, will you?"
