"Show me something." There was a moment of silence like an eternity. Lyda's eyes were burning in anticipation. Just then, she heard another series of voices coming from behind her. Lyda turned around to see a faint light appearing in the dark distance. It grew until it formed a pillar of light that was almost too bright to look at, and yet, it was still stifled by the heavy darkness. It looked almost like an opening doorway.

Only a dim wall light shone in the distance. There was a sudden click. The sound was crisp in the darkness. Olivia felt a chill run down her spine as all the hair on her body stood on end. A ray of light appeared not far away. In the light, she saw a man leaning against a wall. He was shielding a flame with his hand. The leaping flame cast shadows on the man's handsome face. His gaze fell upon her terrified face. "Are you finally leaving?"

My sigh echoed through the walls as relief poured through me. But my relief only lived for a while when I heard the creak of a door that seemed to be in front of me. My eyes closed abruptly when light killed darkness. And when the lights were turned on, the more my face squinted from the sudden light I had to absorb. My eyes slowly adjusted to the light. The darkness pauses. Considering. “Yes.” The answer is simple. “But it will also be more.” The fragment of shadow reaches us. Dylan’s grip tightens on my hand. The warmth inside me surges violently. Light and darkness meet again— But this time, there is no explosion. No shockwave. Just fusion. A deep hum spreads through the plane. The cracks beneath our feet stop widening. The watchers freeze. The ancient voice speaks one final sentence. “It begins.” The sky above us shifts completely.
