[Cillian’s POV] I closed the heavy oak doors of our bedroom. The heavy metal latch clicked into place. That single, quiet sound felt like a massive wall dropping between us and the rest of the world. I stood by the door for a long moment. I let out a slow, deep breath.

"Give us more time. Adam's working on that. Sphinx answered. I nodded. "Thank you for the help guys. I appreciate it." I said and left them. I went straight to our private room. It's on the underground floor of our hideout. Only Sphinx has this card to open the metal door. I tapped the card on the screen lock. After a second I heard two clicks and the metal door automatically opened. The room lightened when I first stepped on the floor. I looked around and saw the device that I wanted. It is inside the glass chamber with a fingerprint system lock just like the other devices in this room. I got three bugging devices and eye glasses with a camera and recording system.

“Yeah, yeah, we’re going.” They shuffle out one by one, leaving him behind to lock up. I wait, my patience thinning to a razor’s edge as he flips the sign on the door to “Closed” and slides the bolt into place.

he grunted. Down a hallway that led away from what seemed to be a massive lounge, Hayden pointed and directed her toward a door with a sensor on it. He placed his thumbprint on it and it popped open. Georgia realized it was a facade with a different door made of thick metal behind it. This door’s dark color and strongroom-style design clashed horribly with the rest of the home’s beautiful look. The facade door didn’t and kept it hidden when closed. Hayden again scanned his print to unlock the second door and it swung open with a loud, metallic ‘clang’. Both doors closed behind them and Georgia heard loud clicks as they locked again.

Is there a darkness inside me now? The halls are dark and silent. I pass several closed doors that I don’t dare open. Whoever or whatever is behind them can remain a mystery. This hall leads me to an empty living room that looks more for show than use. Being tucked away in the back of the house it’s almost as if the room was added as an afterthought, a human afterthought. There are several more useless empty rooms that I pass through.

“Close the door.” My stomach lurched. I turned on shaky legs and walked the ten steps to the heavy double doors at the back of the hall. My low black heels clicked too loudly on the tile. I pushed the doors shut, the latch engaging with a solid thunk, then twisted the deadbolt. When I turned back, he was watching me, arms loosely folded across his chest, leaning against the edge of the podium desk. The silence stretched until I felt it pressing against my skin.
