He didn't even smell a hint of a dominant rank on me. "Freya Dalton. I'm here for the executive assistant interview," I said, my voice sounding braver than I felt. The guard tapped his screen, then froze. He blinked, staring at the terminal, before his posture subtly shifted, straightening out. He looked back up at me, a flicker of confusion passing through his eyes. "Elevator bank D. Take the private lift straight to the top penthouse floor."

She watched nervously as Elena flipped the pages. "What...what does all of this suggest then?" Elena asked, glancing from me to Freya, clearly confused. "Well?" I cocked a brow towards Freya, believing this was the perfect time for her to speak. "You're going to hate me when you realize I held back some things from you," Freya muttered under her breath with a remorseful look and without hesitation, Elena moved to hold her hand. "You are like a sister to me, Frey. Nothing could ever make me hate you."

Finn yelled at me. I sprinted as fast as I could towards him, and firmly placed my hand over his mouth. I then whispered into his ear, “Shhh! Freya is safe, I promise you that, but if you keep screaming like that, Azael will rip your tongue out of your head, is that what you want?”

It was fun to tease with him like this, and her soul felt more settled as it always did when her beautiful man loved her so unconditionally. Chapter 142 Freya's POV As I waited patiently for Michael to come back to us, my eyes drifted towards Bella, who looked sad and lonely. Jason was heading towards the inner room. "Hey," I called, my voice soothing as ever. She quickly wiped her face and faced me with a forced smile. "Hey," she said, sounding glad, even though I could feel the pain in it. "You're Freya, right? So bad we got to meet this way," she said, stretching her hand for a handshake. But I ignored it, giving her a full, warm hug instead.

So I pushed the image of Bryan's brooding silhouette to the back of my mind as the glass doors finally slid open and Freya stepped out, tucking a folder under her arm. She looked tired, but still beautiful in that unintentional way of hers—hair loosely pinned back, a few strands framing her face, blouse slightly creased from a long day. Her eyes lit up when she spotted me. “There’s my ride,” she called out with a small smile. I chuckled. “You’re lucky your chauffeur is tall, handsome, and doesn’t charge by the minute.”
