Raven's Kiss
Diana takes the seat opposite me, quietly opening her book again.
“Sir,” Bonnie says hesitantly, “would you like me to bring refreshments for you and your guest?”
I say nothing.
I look at Diana instead, silently passing the decision to her.
She meets my eyes. Then she turns to Bonnie.
“No, thank you.”
Bonnie nods, preparing to leave.
“Oh—and Bonnie, right?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“I’m his fiancée,” Diana says with a warm smile. “Not a guest.”
Bonnie freezes.
“Fi—fiancée? I’m so sorry, ma’am, I didn’t know.”
