Sparks leapt in the air as a broad-shouldered man hammered a glowing blade against an anvil. “That’s Jarek,” Sera said, her tone laced with fondness. “Best blacksmith in Moonveil. He’s been crafting weapons for hunting since before I was born.” The man looked up at the sound of her voice, his soot-covered face breaking into a smile. “Sera! And Lyra! I was wondering when you’d drag yourselves here. And who’s this?” “Selene,” I said, stepping forward hesitantly. “Ah,” he nodded, his eyes sharp and appraising in a way that made me straighten my shoulders. “New blood. Good. You’ll need something light and balanced for your first hunt.”

“What do you think the fairies will do with this place?” “A handful of our warriors are staying behind and will occupy it until a full treaty is reached. It will be open for business tomorrow.” That made me smile a little. It won’t be like it was, but it would live on. The blacksmith was a dragon and woodsmith a Basilisk so that wouldn’t open up until someone new took on the job. I assume our warriors would need both and it would eventually open again. “You should finish getting your family ready and head down to your pack. The camp is practically cleared out already.”

The golden beast lumbered toward them, then stopped directly in front of Drago, letting out a low growl, steam puffing from it’s huge nostrils.
